How to choose an usenet account?

October 18th, 2009

Usenet Providers usually offer the following types of accounts:

1.Unlimited account.
2.Account with the monthly data limit.
3.Manual account.
4.Block account.

Unlimited account does not require translation. Once you download just as much as you want with a fixed monthly fee. Most accounts are renewed automatically each month, unless we abandon the service.
Most competitive solutions in this segment are:
Newsdemon – $10
Astraweb – $11
Supernews – $11.99

Supernews Newsgroups

Most of the problems among the users can create other types of accounts. Differences, however, very easy to detect.

Account with a monthly limit on data allows downloading of such amounts of data that does not exceed the limit of your account. They are usually renewed every month, unless we abandon the service. In many cases, after using the limit does not need to wait until the beginning of the next subscription period only, you’ll start the next – and so many other possibilities offer Giganews. Often accounts for the smallest and most limits for accounts 5GB Usenet providers severely restrict the retention of data. Examples of such accounts are:
Giganews – 5GB/$4.99
Ngroups.NET – 5GB/$5.99
Newsdemon – 10GB/$8.99

Manual account is offered by few providers. One example is Ngroups.net, which offers such an account at 1,3 or 6 months as the limit, or unlimited data. Accounts unlimited in this offer if they are paid for 3 or 6 months allow you to obtain additional discounts.
Ngroups.NET– 5GB/3 months/$17.97

Block Account is the account under which you buy a certain amount of data and has an indefinite duration. Buy 25GB of data in Astraweb and only after using the data limit your account expires. These are non-expiring block accounts. Some Usenet providers, however, put limits on such accounts and expire after a year if not used the limit of data.
I believe we should select the non-expiring accounts with no limits imposed by providers such as:
Astraweb – 180GB/$25
Ngroups.NET – 200GB/$44

When your block account may be the best choice?

When we are mainly interested in the text newsgroups the limits of the consumption is very low. When you buy block account you provide the access to Usenet for a long time.

When you predict with high accuracy using our account at a low level. Account 180 GB will allow us to use 30GB per month, assuming that the limit we use in 6 months or 15GB per month assuming use during 1 year.

When you expect the occasional unpredictable use of your account at a high level and we know only the estimated wear for long periods.

However, when intensively using Usenet – are downloading lots of movies, music, photos and Usenet has no secrets for you and you are completely absorbed and do not like the restrictions that the only way out is the unlimited account.
In each case compare prices, retention of data and additional features such as encryption of the connection. Please note also on the proper support.

Odpowiednia osoba w Astraweb anuluje Twoja subskrypcję i wyśle Ci potwierdzenie.
